Together we reduce waste – case study: How we reduced wiper consumption by 78%

Challenge: increasing waste volumes and operating costs

In many manufacturing companies, disposable wiping materials generate significant amounts of waste and contribute to both purchasing and disposal costs – this was also our situation. In the face of growing environmental requirements, increasing ecological awareness, and EU regulations, we sought a solution aligned with the circular economy model.

Solution: Implementation of a Reusable System

In December 2025, we conducted comprehensive training sessions for nearly 200 employees and implemented the MEWA reusable wiping system. A key component of the project was not only the introduction of a new product, but also:

  • Clearly defined rules for the use and rotation of wiping materials
  • Ensuring continuous access to clean materials
  • Organized logistics of the circulation process
  • Building employee awareness regarding waste reduction

Results: tangible outcomes already in the first quarter

The results of the implementation appeared faster than expected. As early as Q1 2026, we achieved:

  • A 78% reduction in the use of disposable wiping materials
  • A decrease in waste from 230 kg to 50 kg

This represents not only a significant reduction in waste, but also improved work organization and process standardization.

Business and operational benefits

The implementation of a reusable wiping system delivers measurable benefits:

  • Improved work organization – a closed-loop system streamlines processes and eliminates shortages in wiping material availability
  • Cost reduction – lower consumption of disposable materials reduces both purchasing and disposal expenses
  • Environmental impact – a substantial decrease in waste directly supports the company’s sustainability initiatives

Regulatory Compliance

The solution aligns with the direction of EU green regulations, which promote:

  • Reduction of resource consumption (reduce)
  • Reuse
  • Increased product circularity

Objective for 2026: maintain the momentum

The goal for 2026 is to achieve a waste reduction level of -70% compared to 2025. Current results already indicate that we are well on track to meet this target.
